New links between alcohol sales and violence will be investigated in New Zealand.
A recently released Australian research has found increases in domestic violence in the home can be linked to new liquor licenses approved in surrounding neighbourhoods.
Associate Health Minister Damien O'Connor says the study does have implications for New Zealand as it backs up what authorities know anecdotally.
He says research will have to be done in New Zealand and attention given to whether liquor outlets and licensing need further controls.
