Part 1

The police finally made and appearance at an Otago NORML 420 protest after four straight years of 'having better things to do'. I guess they are getting pretty bored what with all the murders and armed standoffs taking place around the city and they feel that their time would be better spent surveilling and harassing peaceful cannabis smokers.

I wouldn't call it much of a 'crack down', but the police did manage to arbitrarily trespass two prospective future students from campus without any reason given whatsoever. One of the three plainclothes undercover cops present manged to arrest a student for possession as well, but did it quietly and out of sight of the protest crowd. The police were present for about 15 minutes before the crowd managed to staunch them out and get them to leave. Then they came back, but they didn't last long under a constant barrage of legitimate questions as to their justifications for being present and demands to see their badge numbers.
